Phil Mandile

1942-2018

Brother Phil Mandile was a Salesian Brother in the Western Province (USA) of St. Andrew. Professed on August 16th, 1961, he was inducted into Papal Knighthood in the Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 2001. He had worked in Youth Centers in management and Administration positions most of his years with the Salesians. He was also the director of a program for runaway and homeless children, a crisis center and shelter for homeless young adults under 21, and a Police & Sheriff Chaplain from 1974 up until his recent sickness. Although semi-retired and unable to do much, Phil did continue working at the Salesian Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles, assisting in the Administration Department, and working with youth members of the Clubs. He lived at St. Joseph 's Salesian Youth Renewal Center, and worked in their Special Services office with social communication projects.

There was a mass at the Provincial House in San Francisco. On Tuesday, June 12, 2018 there was also a Mass and burial for Br. Phil at the Salesian chapel and cemetery in Richmond, CA. There was also a Mass in Bellflower, CA with members of his family present.
