Credo

           by Dominic Vautier

The Credo used to be a part of the Latin Mass.  When we had high mass we usually did this Credo.

The words are from the Nicene Creed.  It describes all the Christian articles of faith as described at the Council of Nicaea in 385 AD.

I believe in one God, Father almighty, builder of heaven and earth, and of all things seen and unseen.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only son of God, born of the Father before anything else.

God of God, light of lights, true God of true God.

Begotten, not made, co-existent with the father.

From which everything is made.

Because of us humans, and for our salvation, He came down from heaven.

He was made incarnate by the Holy Spirit, and given human life through the Virgin Mary, and He actually became a man.

He was thereafter crucified for us, at the hands of Pontius Pilate, died and was buried.

On the third day he came back to life according to the scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God.

The Credo used to be a part of the Latin Mass. When we had high mass we usually did this Credo.

He will come in glory to judge the living and dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

And (I also believe) in the Holy Spirit, Lord, that proceeds from the Father and the Son.

And with the Father and the Son, is equally glorified and honored, as described by the prophets.

And in one, holy, catholic and apostolic church.

I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.

And I wait for the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting.

Amen.
