ὁδὸς ἄνω κάτω μία καὶ ὡυτή

When My son Val got his surgery he had several months off work to recover.  Before going back to the ironworkers I suggested that he maybe could help me rebuild the front stairs.  He took to this job with great passion.

Here are the old stairs.  they were built about 35 years ago and were in bad shape.

We began by ripping up all the steps. We took the lower stringers and copied them then put in new risers on each step.

The next thing was to replace the first landing and build new stringers for the second set of steps.  We again copied the stringers using the old ones.  the new trex required additional reinforcement behind the risers.

The final stairs looked really good but then we began working on the railing. The second and third landing required additional bracing. Once we fabed all the rail we got to mount it.
