I sleep in three positions, usually on my right side, sometimes on my back, and on my left side when I’m really tired. I also sleep on the right side of the bed. When I sleep on the couch it’s just on my back. That’s a grand total of four positions/places.
But Basset hounds can sleep in approximately four hundred sixty-two positions. They can also sleep just about anywhere in the house, I mean anywhere; the stairs, the couch, pillows, grocery bags, sleeping bags, porches, corners, closets, but their favorite spot is right in front of the refrigerator. When I go to load the dishes each morning, there’s always a basset underfoot sleeping right in front of the dishwasher door, because dishwasher-loading time means special feeding time. Bassets are not so dumb after all.
So with 462 positions times maybe 821 locations throughout the house, a basset has at least 379,302 locations and positions to sleep. What an exciting life!
Anyway here are just a few of the basset sleeping positions I have been able to observe so far. There are many, many more believe me!
