Sleeping Basset

"Don't kick sleeping dogs"

This is an axiom well worth following, especially when you deal with Dobermans, Great Danes,  terriers, Bulldogs, Pit Bulls, Shepherds, Russian Wolf Hounds and any of the vicious and ferocious dogs, lest you for sure suffer loss of life and especially limb.  But with Basset Hounds, it's probably a good idea to kick them once in awhile when they’re sleeping just to make sure they are still breathing.  After all Basset Hounds are the ultimate masters at energy conservation, and it requires only a very small amount of energy to breath.

But Sparky does carry on a busy, full and  happy life during those scarce few hours each day when she's not sleeping.  Within that brief time, she has to do all the usual scratching, sniffing and eating.  It's never a dull moment indeed for a Basset.
